Base Process

How to use this Map
1. Pick your project type below. Each tile opens a process map tailored to that kind of project. Not sure which fits? Use the questionnaire below, or just start at the Permit Center - Initial Contact is always the first step on every map.
2. Explore the map. Projects move left to right across phases; the colored rows are the city teams you'll work with. Select any step to open its details, and select a department name in the left column for contact information.
3. Watch for the badges. A $ means a fee applies at that step, colored to match the department (Planning purple, Building blue, Engineering teal).
4. Search or find your way back. The search box above jumps straight to any step on any map. Every map page has its own search bar too, plus an "Application Process Navigator home" link at the top that returns you here.

General Development Application
Projects needing land use review: site plan review, conditional use, variances or design review, before building permits can be filed.

Subdivision
Dividing land to create new lots, streets and public infrastructure. Primarily a Planning and Engineering process. Use this if you are creating the subdivision.

Building Permits on Platted Lots
The plat is already recorded and the infrastructure is underway. You are buying a lot and pulling building permits on it.

Infill and Middle Housing
Duplexes, triplexes, quadplexes, townhomes and cottage clusters on existing lots served by existing streets and utilities.

Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU)
Adding a second, smaller home on a residential lot. One building permit covers both Planning and Building review.

Commercial
Commercial construction. The same general shape as a residential permit but with more reviewers: Fire, Engineering, Electrical and Plumbing.

Remodel and Standalone Trade Permits
Interior remodels, and standalone mechanical, electrical and plumbing permits. Trade permits are more streamlined than the full path.
