KGA led a multi-disciplinary team in creating a new Comprehensive Plan for the City of Logansport, Indiana.

Logansport is a picturesque small town in rural Indiana with great unrealized potential. The Comprehensive Plan focused on downtown revitalization, neighborhood preservation, trails/ recreation, economic development/tourism, historic preservation, brownfield redevelopment, urban design, and protection of rural areas within the city extraterritorial jurisdiction.

 KGA created a streamlined, highly strategic project approach that engaged the community and met the needs of the plan while keeping within very limited budgetary constraints.

Results

•  New “smart growth” comprehensive plan focused on downtown revitalization and neighborhood preservation,

• Growth boundary to constrain outward sprawl in favor of infill development and reinvestment within existing city boundaries.

• Extensive public engagement including workshops and focus groups, with collaboration from local Ball State University students.

• Provided the policy basis for land use regulation in the zoning code.

Subsequent to the adoption of the Comprehensive Plan, Logansport was designated a Preserve America Community. That designation is specifically for communities that protect and celebrate historic resources, use them for economic development and revitalization, and promote heritage tourism.
